Father's Day and Pool

Jesse's first Father's Day was fun and full of surprises. We had planned to meet up with his family at Starved Rock State Park for a picnic and family bonding time, but the weather didn't cooperate. It rained during the first part of the day and then it was very hot and humid the rest of the day. We ate our picnic lunch under a clump of trees so we only got a little wet and then we went to an indoor amusement park. The park was really neat, but the rides were not appropriate for our group (too big for the babies and too little for the adults :)) After the amusement park we went for a short hike and then we went for some ice cream. All in all, it was fun; however, Jesse did say that his ideal Father's Day would consist of golfing with his son (maybe in a few years!)

Today it was very hot and muggy so Logan and I decided to try out his new pool. We lathered on the sunscreen and headed outside. He seemed to have a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll get a lot of use out of the pool this summer.

Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. The past two years have flown by. We have had a lot of good times, including our trip to Galena this past weekend. We ate a lot of good food and drank a lot of good wine. In fact, we started our journey at the winery. We did some shopping and then went out to eat. On Sunday we visited President Grant's home and then saw the movie The Hangover (hilarious, by the way!!!) It was a great weekend and I can't wait to celebrate our next anniversary.

Fun in the Sun

Summertime is unofficially here in the Bowman household. I am off work for almost three months and so far I'm loving every minute of it. Logan and I are doing lots of fun things including spending time at the park and zoo. Logan loves the baby swings; however, he is still a little too small for them so we stuff a towel inside the swing to give him more support. He continues to be a very happy boy who smiles and giggles all the time. I have been trying to capture his giggle on video, but he seems to get very serious whenever the camera comes out. Finally, a friend of mine was able to record us together while he was in a swing and a few giggles were captured. He is becoming more verbal and he loves to "talk" and make funny noises if you jiggle him on your lap. We have so much planned for this summer and I can't wait. Jesse is very busy with work and his new band. He has had two gigs in the past week. Jesse and I will celebrate our two-year wedding anniversary this weekend with a trip to Galena. We're looking forward to some time to ourselves (thank goodness for Grandparents!) Happy summer to everyone!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday. Although I think of her everyday and miss her everyday, I think about her even more on her birthday. I miss her like crazy these days. It deeply saddens me that Logan will not grow up with his grandma around, but I know they will meet someday. We already show him pictures of her and talk about her all the time. I also sing to him songs that she sang to me when I was young. Unfortunately I inherited her terrible singing voice, but I don't think Logan minds. Like we have in past years, Jesse and I will eat Chinese food and play Scrabble (two of her favorites) in honor of her. We love you mom!!!

Loving Life

"I love my mom and dad this much!"

Life is good! Mother's Day weekend we visited Jesse's family in Sterling and we had a great time. My dad also came and ate dinner with us on Saturday night. It was so much fun to watch Logan "interact" with his cousin, Ryder. They like to watch each other and "share" toys. My first Mother's Day as a mother was very special. Jesse made breakfast and lunch and did all the cleaning up. He even watched Bride Wars with me. I frequently found myself thinking throughout the day (and most days), "I'm truly happy!" What a great feeling!!!

Logan either has another cold or he has allergies. As a result of his cold or allergies he had a blocked tear duct that got infected. We visited the doctor today and now we have to give him eye drops twice a day (and of course he hates it). Also, Logan's pediatrician referred us to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor and so we'll be meeting with him soon to address Logan's congestion problems. Despite his minor health problems, Logan is a very happy baby. He smiles and laughs all the time. He is truly loving life!
